Through generous funding from the Honjo Foundation, JAA is looking for qualified candidates for its 2010 JAA - HONJO Scholarship. This is open to students who will be enrolled in a full time course of graduate study (except music, studio art and performing arts) at an accredited U.S. University in the New York area in academic year 2010 - 2011. Student should be able to demonstrate an interest in and if currently involved in furthering U.S. - Japan relations. Applications deadline is March 1, 2010.

"The New Rookie Photographer" by Asahi Camera Magazine in 1963. In 1964, he settled in New York after he worked for Life Magazine during the Tokyo Olympics. He also worked for many magazines like Mainichi Newspaper, Brazilian magazine "Machete".and others. JAA -HONJO SCHOLARSHIP Announcement
Through generous funding from the Honjo Foundation, JAA is looking for qualified candidates for its 2009 JAA - HONJO Scholarship. This is open to students who will be enrolled in a full time course of graduate study (except music, studio art and performing arts) at an accredited U.S. university in the New York area in academic year 2009 - 20010. The student should be able to demonstrate an interest in and ideally is already involved in furthering U.S. - Japan relations. The deadline for applications is February 15, 2009.

JAA -HONJO SCHOLARSHIP Announcement
Through generous funding from the Honjo Foundation, JAA is looking for qualified candidates for its 2008 JAA - HONJO Scholarship. This is open to students who will be enrolled in a full time course of graduate study (except medicine, music, studio art and performing arts) at an accredited U.S. university in the New York area in academic year 2008 - 2009. The student should be able to demonstrate an interest in and ideally is already involved in furthering U.S. - Japan relations. The deadline for applications is February 15, 2008.
The following are required:
1. Resume and contact information (please include e-mail address), including expected year of graduation, work experience and volunteer/community service, if any.
2. Official Transcripts (undergrad and graduate school)
3. Two (2) letters of recommendation (at least one from a professor familiar with the student's work)
4. Essay from the applicant as to how he/she plans to help further U. S. - Japan relations through their selected course of study. (No more than 1,000 words)
We have close to $20,000 to award. Last year, the award was allocated among three students.
Please note that this scholarship is separate and apart from the one being given through the Honjo Foundation in Japan (which grants awards to Japanese students studying abroad and foreign students studying in Japanese universities.)
