Shinichi Nishimiya Scholarship

Dear Members and Friends:

In May of 2013 we are planning for our 43rd JAA Scholarship Dinner in which we give scholarships to our future young leaders.

At that dinner we plan to present a new scholarship in honor of former Consul General Shinichi Nishimiya, Japanese Ambassador to China designate, who unfortunately passed away in September 2012. If you would like to join me in making a contribution to the scholarship fund, we hope to not only be able to provide a special scholarship this year, but for years to come. Mrs. Nishimiya has been invited to present the Scholarship at the dinner.

We would appreciate your support of the Shinichi Nishimiya Scholarship Award and of the Scholarship Dinner. Please make a check payable to the Japanese American Association of New York, Inc. (write a note “the Nishimiya Scholarship”) and send to JAA, 15 West 44th Street, 11th Floor, New York, NY 10036. Also you may contribute through our website using the DONATE button and clearly noting it is for the Nishimiya Scholarship.

The Japanese American Association of New York, Inc./JAA has since 1971 awarded scholarships to graduating high school students of Japanese descent living in the tri-state area who are applying to United States institutions of higher learning. If you know any eligible candidates for these scholarships please encourage them to apply through our website in 2013.

Thank you,

Satoru Murase
Chairman of JAA Scholarship Committee 2013
