11th JAA Music Scholarship Awards Competition
The Japanese American Association of New York, Inc. is pleased to announce the sponsoring of the eleventh Music Scholarship Awards Competition. Through the continuation of these awards, we aim to give an incentive to young talented musicians and at the same time to promote further understanding between the United States and Japan through the universal language of music.
This year the awards will be given to instrumental chamber music ensembles from Trio to Quintet. Major donors of leading Japanese companies will support the awards. The competition will be open to Japanese students and American students of Japanese descent who are major members of ensembles. Those who are interested are requested to fill out the attached Application Form.
The Jury will be the prominent musicians and professors of leading music schools.
The selection will take place in two rounds at the Japanese American Association of New York, 15 West 44th Street, 11th Floor, New York, NY 10036, as follows:
First Round: Saturday, October 25, 2008 (Times to be announced)
Second Round: Sunday, October 26, 2008 (Times to be announced)
Two winning ensembles will receive a cash prize of $2,000 to $5,000 in the name of a donor company, as well as an opportunity to give a joint concert at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, located at 154 West 57th Street, New York City, on December 20, 2008.
